Experiments in baroque opera acting on the best dramatick principles,
or how 17th and 18th century singers might have approached
the dramatic music of Monteverdi, Purcell and Handel.
How do we use what we know of the cultural context and the mindset and training of 17th and 18thC performers to understand how to perform baroque opera?
Zak Ozmo, playing the archlute, leads musicians from the Royal Academy, while three desperate heroines and a Mad Spirit (sung by Suzanne Walker) illustrate Kate Brown's lecture.
